Barbara LissBarbara L. Liss, Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Paralegal: Bringing a genuine commitment to service, case management and communication to her work as our estate planning, trusts, and probate paralegal, Barbara has developed a reputation for her unique ability to guide, and if necessary handhold, clients through what can seem like an overwhelming legal process.

Strong analysis and organizational skills around the factual elements critical to success within the legal process earmark Barbara’s 35 years of law firm experience, including her involvement in over 30 civil litigation trial cases.

As a paralegal, Ms. Liss was awarded her certificate in legal assistantship from UCSB in 1984; she has a private, post-secondary teaching credential in paralegal studies and has taught civil litigation for many institutions, including the Practicing Law Institute. She has a reputation for her knowledge of the Code of Civil Procedure, and in researching statutory and case law in the California and the federal court system.

Barbara also sits on the board of the Santa Barbara Paralegal Association. She has served on the advisory boards for the UC-Davis Paralegal Program and the Lincoln Law School Paralegal Program, the board of the Sacramento Association of Legal Assistants (representative to the National Federation of Paralegal Associations) and the corporate board of Jewish Marriage Encounter of Southern California (as president). Barbara serves as an instructor at the UCSB Paralegal Program. She has testified on paralegal issues before the California Senate Sub-Committee on the Judiciary and the California State Bar’s Public Protection Committee. She was part of the National Federation of Paralegal Association’s paralegal licensure committee that authored their position paper on the subject, which affected the eventual enactment of Business & Professions Code Section 6450.
